Registration FAQs

When is my registration date and time?

To check your registration date and time, you may log into your student account via "My Canyons".  Once you log in, select the "My Registration Time" link under the Registration menu on the left hand side.

Why don't I have a registration date and time?

If you are a new student and have submitted an application for admission, you will need to complete the online orientation for the term you applied.  The online orientation will generate a registration date and time for new students.

If you are a returning student meaning that you have not attended for one or more semesters, you will need to submit a current application for admission in order to receive a registration date and time.  If you have already done so and did not receive a registration date and time, please contact the Admissions & Records office to have one assigned.

If you are a continuing student, please contact the Admissions & Records office for more information.

If you are a high school student, please visit the high school students webpage for more information.

I missed my registration date and time.  What do I do now?

Our registration system is set up so that you may enter the registration system anytime beginning on or after your assigned registration date and time.  If you missed your date and time, you may simply log into your student account via "My Canyons".

I should have an earlier registration date and time.  How are registration dates and times determined?

Registration dates and times are automatically assigned by the system.  The system computes how many units have been completed, including the units for which you are currently enrolled  at College of the Canyons at the time registration dates are assigned and then sorts by student ID number.

Why do I have a later date and time if I have more than 100 units?

Your registration date and time is based only on how many units you have completed at College of the Canyons; this does not include transfer units.  If you have completed more than 100 units, you will be placed back on the lowest continuing registration block and will no longer have the earliest priority registration date and time.

What are the registration blocks and how many units do you need to have to fall into that particular category?

Continuing Students: Returning Students: E
   A 45 - 99.9 units New Matricualted Students: F
   B 30 - 44.9 unit New Non-Matriculated Students: G
   C 15 - 29.9 units High School Students: H
   D 0 - 14.9 units, over 100 units

What are "Special Programs" and why can't I register on that day?

Special programs are for those students who are part of one of the following groups: ASG, Athletics, CalWORKS, DSPS, EOPS, Foster Youth, MESA and Veterans.  If you do not belong to one of these groups, you do not receive the special programs priority registration date and time.

I am an Honors student and/or belong to the President's Honors List.  Why don't I have an earlier registration date and time?

Being an Honors student or belonging to the President's Honors List is not included in the determination of registration date and times.  If you do not belong to one of the special student programs, you will not receive a "Special Programs" priority date.  A registration date and time is solely determined by the number of units completed, including the units for which you are currently enrolled  at College of the Canyons at the time registration dates are assigned and then by student ID number.

I am graduating this semester.  Why don't I have an earlier registration date and time?

Graduating students do not receive an earlier registration date and time.  If you do not belong to one of the special student programs, you will not receive a "Special Programs" priority date.  A registration date and time is solely determined by the number of units completed, including the units for which you are currently enrolled  at College of the Canyons at the time registration dates are assigned and then by student ID number.
