Marian Smith-Subbarao earned her PhD from Stanford University in Acoustics (Classical Applied Mathematics), where she also earned an MS in Mechanical Engineering and a BS in Mathematics. Additionally, she earned an MA in Mathematics at UC Berkeley. Dr. Smith-Subbarao worked for 30 years in industry on problems in mathematical physics, primarily performing data analysis and algorithm development for remote sensing and detection applications, working most recently as a senior manager. During her industry career she also completed UCLAs Executive MBA program.
Marian has lived in the Santa Clarita Valley for over 25 years. Her husband, Ram, earned his PhD in Mechanical
Engineering at Stanford and works in industry. She has two children who attended Hart High School: Currently, one is an Economist in Washington DC and the other a local High School English Teacher.
