Meet the Foster Youth Liaison

My name is Lisa Pavik and my role in the Financial Aid Office is to be the "one stop shop" for all foster youth transitioning out of the foster system into college. I provide guidance, information and resources to all foster youth interested in becoming a student at College of the Canyons. I am available to assist you through the various processes necessary to begin attending college including: application for admission, application for financial aid, and registration into classes. I will also introduce you to the benefits of various Student Services departments on campus, such as: Extended Opportunities Programs and Services (EOPS,) Student Health and Wellness, and the Career Center. I work closely with the Independent Living Coordinator, assigned to you by the Department of Child, and Family Services, to help connect you with access to resources you may need such as: money for books, food, transportation, and shelter. If you would like to schedule an appointment to speak with me in person, please call the Financial Aid Office at (661)362-3215. You may also leave a message for me at (661)362-5242, or I can be reached via e-mail at lisa.pavik@canyons.edu.

Successfully finding your way through a large institution can be challenging, as there are always deadlines, requirements, expectations you must strive to meet. The various college-related applications and forms required for you to fill out are often difficult to understand. Please contact me so that I can help you discover all of the benefits available to you, and get you started on a path toward success as a college student at College of the Canyons. I look forward to meeting you!
